The best solution to Permanent Hair Removal.

The energy that E-Light emits transforms heat that permanently destroys hair bulbs without affecting its surrounding skin tissues.

E-Light is the combination of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Radio Frequency (RF). E-light is an advanced technology that simultaneously harnesses the power of RF and IPL.

The procedure is safe, quick, effective, and leaves the skin feeling smooth and hair-free. Constant waxing or shaving your hair can cause skin discolouration and irritation.

1. Intense Pulse Light

IPL releases a broader spectrum of pulsating light, like a photo flash. The light scatters and penetrates under the skin without damaging the surface skin later.

2. Radio Frequency

Radiofrequency (RF) here acts as the driver to IPL, delivers deeper through the skin layer, expanding on the treatment results.

3. Cooling System

Frequently Asked Questions About IPL Hair Removal

What is E-Light IPL Hair Removal and how does it work?

Carragheen’s E-Light combines Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) with Radio Frequency (RF) technology to target and destroy hair follicles without damaging surrounding skin. The light energy is absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft, converts to heat, and damages the follicle to prevent regrowth. The addition of RF energy enhances the effectiveness and allows for safer treatment across a range of skin tones. The result is progressively smoother skin with each session. Learn more here.

How many IPL sessions do I need for permanent hair reduction?

IPL targets hair in the active growth phase (anagen). Since only a portion of your hair is in this phase at any one time, multiple sessions are required to catch each hair during its active phase. Most customers need 5 to 8 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to achieve significant and lasting hair reduction. After your treatment course, occasional top-up sessions may be needed as hormonal changes can activate dormant follicles.

Is IPL hair removal painful?

Most customers describe the sensation as a mild snap or warmth rather than pain — generally well-tolerated and far more comfortable than waxing. The E-Light system’s RF component helps manage heat distribution, reducing discomfort during treatment. Our therapists will adjust the energy settings to suit your skin type and sensitivity throughout each session.

How should I prepare for an IPL session to get the best results?

Shave the treatment area 24 to 48 hours before your appointment so the energy targets the follicle rather than surface hair. Avoid waxing, plucking, or epilating in the weeks leading up to your course, as these remove the hair root that IPL needs to target. Avoid sun tanning or self-tanner on the area for at least 2 weeks before your session, and do not use retinoids, chemical peels, or blood thinners close to your treatment date.

What should I avoid after an IPL session?

For 24 to 48 hours after each session, avoid hot showers, saunas, vigorous exercise, and sun exposure on the treated area. Do not apply perfumed products, deodorant, or retinoid-based skincare to the area immediately after treatment. Apply SPF to any treated area that will be exposed to the sun. Mild redness or a warm sensation after the session is normal and typically settles within a few hours.
